Patron Teen Scholarships

Background

The services and support provided to heart children and their families has improved in depth and quality since the formation of the national organisation in 1996. The introduction of Camp Brave Hearts was followed by that of Camp Teen Beat as the needs of our children developed. The Board has now introduced a range of scholarships for teenagers aged between 17 and 20 years of age. Our three Patrons have kindly agreed to associate their names to these scholarships:

  • The Sir Richard Hadlee Scholarship

  • The Margaret Mahy Scholarship

  • The Mr Alan Kerr Scholarship

Purpose

To provide practical or educational development opportunities for teenage heart children.

Eligibility

Applicants must be Members of @Heart and aged 17 to 20 on the first of January of the year of the award.

Value

Three scholarships will be awarded each year, commencing in October of that year, for a total value of $1,500.  Recipients will also receive a Scholarship plaque as a lasting reminder of their achievement.

Applicant Process

Applicants should complete the official Patron Scholarship application form to reach the Scholarship Selection Panel by 15th August in the year for which the scholarships are awarded.  Only applications made on the official form, and including all requested supporting information, will be accepted. The selection will be completed by the members of the @Heart (1995) Trust, and the Patrons mentioned above. A decision will be made in September and successful applicants informed.  Best of luck.
