We started the New Year with a fantastic Camp Brave Hearts where 57 heart kids aged 8-12 from all over the country camp together for an enriching outdoor learning experience. Special needs and disadvantaged children will be treated to fantastic performances at the 2013 Kids Day Out Variety Show to be held in February, March and April 2013 in 24 different locations throughout the country. Camp Teen Beat is a week-long camp for teens@Heart aged between 13 and 17 to do adventurous things and mingle with like-minded teenagers in a fun and safe environment. The Camp will be held from the 29th of April until the 3rd of May 2013 at MERC, Long Bay, Auckland, under the careful supervision of a medical team and a selected team of adult helpers. Camp Brave Hearts is a week-long camp for heart kids aged between 8 and 12 to do adventurous kids things in a fun and safe environment. Camp Brave Hearts 2012 was a huge success. The kids enjoyed their daily challenges of climbing, kayaking, and the various other activities which Lake Taupo Christian Camp offers. A fun and unique fundraising event not to be missed. Every week, 12 babies are born in NZ with a heart defect. Children with heart defects often have their chest cavity filled with an icy slush to reduce the heart’s oxygen requirement during open-heart surgery. That’s the inspiration for this chilly challenge. The Challenge
Twelve babies are born every week with a heart defect in New Zealand. For many of these children medical intervention is their only chance of survival. This year alone, 450 open heart surgeries will be conducted on Kiwi children. During surgery the child is cooled down in icy slush to slow the metabolism. That's the inspiration for this unique event. That's two thousand focused faces, four thousand feet jiving and eight thousand limbs pumping – photo opportunities galore! These kids were all participating in Heart Children New Zealand's Heart Jam - the Bay's largest aerobic class.
